Seven Oaks Whitetails was established in 2004 by Frank Ondrovik, DVM and his wife, Margaret. Located just outside Utopia, Texas, Seven Oaks Whitetails is a 42-acre Whitetail deer breeding facility with pure Texas big buck, doe, and fawn whitetail Deer on site. While the Whitetail deer breeding services we offer are multi-faceted, our only business is pure Texas whitetail deer breeding.
Seven Oaks Whitetails breeds "commercial deer" for release on a Texas ranch. These are
survivable deer that can be commercially hunted. Dr Frank will do a slow release of these
deer. This allows them to get used to their surroundings. High-scoring "northern"
deer are prone to disease and cannot defend themselves.
At Seven Oaks Whitetails, we offer a number of genetically superior pure Texas whitetail deer for sale, including breeder bucks, stocker bucks, open does, bred does, and fawns. Dr. Ondrovik provides complete veterinary care and consultation of pen-raised as well as free ranging whitetail deer.
If you are interested in purchasing one of our genetically superior animals, or learning more about the services we offer, please review our website or contact us today. We also offer guided tours of our breeding facilities with opportunities to photograph some of our breeding stock up close.

Herd Health Programs

Dr. Frank Ondrovik uses the latest in immunization protocols. Do you vaccinate your deer? We offer Parasite diagnosis and treatment regimes. Dr. Frank also offer nutritional analysis by Individual ranch, area by area. Did you know that no feed company varies their mineral additives based on geographical area? So, if your ranch is on the Edwards Plateau you get the same formula as a Whitetail Deer Breeder in Indiana! Even though we know, for example, sulfur reduces the absorption of copper. So if your water supply contains sulfur your Whitetail deer need additional copper. Feed companies will individualize feeds to meet your needs, but the complete evaluation of your ranch’s requirements are what is needed. Let me put you on the right track to maximize the genetics you paid so much to obtain.

Immobilization Training
Seven Oaks Whitetails' Two Year Old Pen
The most life-threatening procedure performed routinely on deer is immobilization. Most often this is performed by “darters” with little or no knowledge of how or why these potent drugs act, the reasons mixtures of drugs are used, and why a specific proportion is the safest. Nor do these "darters" have experience in treating a multitude of emergencies that can arise. Owners of breeding operations need to take this problem seriously not only for the safety of their animals, but also for liability reasons in the event of accidental human exposure. Let me train your personnel to minimize both risk and liability.

Genetic Theory
What is line-breeding? When does it become inbreeding? What is an F1 hybrid? What is “hybrid vigor”? Most deer breeders are very intelligent, successful businessmen, but most have little training in genetic theory. Most breeding deer are chosen based solely on antler score. No thought is given to which characteristics are heritable,
whether line-breeding is going to be practiced, are F1 crosses going to be released for hunting? Dr.
Frank can answer these questions for you and provide the kind of advice that will result in solid
improvements to your deer herd.
Let me put you on the right track to achieve your goals.

Individual Animal Treatment
Dose, 206 5/8 at 3yrs, a pure Texas Breeder Buck
Dr. Ondrovik's emergency medicine experience coupled with having anesthetized over 10,000 animals makes
him uniquely qualified to monitor your valuable buck during semen collection. Many Whitetail deer breeders allow a “darter” to anesthetize their animal,
which is worth thousands of dollars, with little or no monitoring of vital signs, no intravenous “port” into which to administer emergency drugs if needed, and no training in emergency protocol. Let
Dr. Ondrovik monitor your valuable animals during these risky procedures, whether it be a buck during collection or your does on “AI” day.
Dr. Ondrovik also offers treatment protocols for sick animals: parasites, pneumonia, EHD Blue Tongue, etc.
Thanks for visiting our website
We would really appreciate hearing from you with any suggestions and comments that might make this a better web site. We would like to invite you all to come and visit our facility in the beautiful Utopia area of South Central Texas. We are not fancy but we try continually to provide exactly what we promise. We strive to raise deer that can improve your genetics. In order to do this they must survive and compete in the wild. It does no good to buy a doe out of 300-inch stock that has never raised a fawn. Many breeders today bottle-raise all fawns and have no idea whether a doe can even produce milk and raise a fawn.
My Veterinary services have this same approach. I try to provide practical solutions to common problems for both pen-raised and free-ranging deer. Phone consultation is available if needed.
